Neo Geo fans get ready because 8BitDo is launching a brand new, officially licenced recreation of the Neo Geo CD’s controller – The NEOGEO Wireless Controller due to be released mid-August 2023.
Complementing their growing collection of quality retro-inspired emulator controllers, 8BitDo boast of a ‘perfect recreation’ of the original SNK Neo Geo controller, complete with the original button layout and the iconic classic click-style joystick, no doubt fans of the original Neo Geo CD controller will be eager to test the authenticness of that ‘click’!
Available at launch will be 4 limited editions versions of the controller in tribute to the Neo Geo classic, The King of Fighters ’97, with Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Iori Yagami, or Mai Shiranui variations available.
Weighing in at only 115g and with a built-in 300mAh Li-on rechargeable battery which 8BitDo say will provide 35 hours of playtime on a single 1-hour charge, this looks to be one of 8BitDo’s best offerings yet when it comes to battery life.
Like with most 8BitDo products, the Neo Geo wireless controller will be available with Bluetooth (Android compatible only), 2.4Ghz wireless, and USB connectivity out of the box, so you’ll be able to use it with most of your devices with at least one of these connection methods. Also, as well as being compatible with Android & Windows devices, it will also work with the Neo Geo Mini system too.
